groom and groomsmen wedding trends 2024

Trends for the Groom and Groomsmen

Often times, the guys get overlooked in a lot of the wedding planning and design. Those of us that don’t shop for suits think “a suit is a suit, is a suit…”, but that is not the case at all! Let’s take a moment to really celebrate some of the fun trends we are predicting for 2024. From cuts to fabrics to colors, there’s a lot to expect from 2024.

Tailored to the Nines

The slim-fit suit has been popular the past few years and we see no signs of this trend waning anytime soon. A well-made, well-cut suit will definitely make you stand out in a room full of frumpy oversized suits. And of all days, you need to be the guy that has all eyes on him. The celebration the human form has been around as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Putting on a crisp, tailor fit suit will do wonders for your self-confidence, poise, and ego.  Of all days where you want to look and feel like a million bucks, we say go for it and splurge a little. You won’t regret it!

Three-Piece Suits

The three-piece suit is timeless and elegant. Period. At some point in the evening, odds are the jacket is going to come off, but grooms still want to look dapper. A vest is the perfect addition. Whether you chivalrously offered your coat to your bride when she caught a chill or just need to cool off your core body temperature, you’ll know that you are still going to look like a million bucks and be comfortable enough to dance the night away.

Ecofriendly Fabrics

As with bridal dresses, we are seeing an overall trend in 2024 of a switch towards natural fabrics. (And with all the poor, sweaty grooms I have blotted over the years, I think this is a trend they will definitely be embraced with open arms). You can expect to find mores suits made from silk, cotton, linen, hemp, charmeuse, and even recycled polyester fabrics. Sustainability is no longer just a trend, it has become part of the “fabric” of our lives and a tenet we should all be living by day by day. What better statement to make on your wedding day than stepping up in a suit that is environmentally sustainable and breathable and light. It’s a win-win!

Trending Colors for 2024

There will always be a portion of the population that loves the safe look of a black or grey suit. And that’s great! But in 2024, expect to see a lot less of the greyscale at the alter and a lot more pop of color. We predict some striking color choices for men’s suits, especially in bold blues, maroons and evergreens. These colors can coordinate with your wedding décor and really pull everything together.

Mix and Match Trend

As with the mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses, we predict the same trend for gents. Buying a suit for someone’s wedding, in a style or color that isn’t exactly your own, can be a difficult (and expensive) pill to swallow. Especially if you think it might spend all of eternity locked at the back of your closet, never to see the light of day. Ouch! We are seeing more and more predictors that matching groomsmen’s suit will be a thing of the past. Guys opting for suits they already have, but with matching ties and pocket squares for unity, are a definite trend for 2024.

Coordinating Colors

You have your suit all picked out, now it’s time to have some fun. If you are going to go all out with a showstopping suit, don’t forget to coordinate an colorful tie and pocket square for your big day. Speaking of a touch of color, we predict guys will be opting to wear ties and pocket squares in complimentary colors to accentuate their suits. We don’t anticipate anything too bright and loud, but a little pop of color is never a bad thing. (Think of black, purple or red with a maroon suit, pink, maroon or even orange with a blue suit and brown or rust orange with an evergreen suit.)

Put Your Best Foot Forward

While we predict overall bolder color choices for 2024, I think the age of the “crazy socks” has come and gone. Guys will be option for the more neutral, single-color socks with some sharp leather lace up shoes for a more formal look and loafers (with or without socks) for a slightly more casual look at the altar.

In conclusion, these are some of the predictions we see for the 2024 wedding season for grooms and groomsmen. You asked and we listened. It is safe to say the brides get most of the limelight on their wedding day, but that is not to say that guys don’t deserve a little love and direction, too.
